Choosing a groom

Mobile vs studio dog grooming: which suits your dog?

Both get your dog clean and tidy. The right choice depends on your dog's temperament, your home, and how much the convenience is worth to you.

Mobile (the groomer comes to you) is calmer and more convenient, and usually costs a little more. Studio drop-off is often cheaper and better equipped for very large or heavily matted dogs. For most small HDB dogs in Singapore, either works — it comes down to stress and convenience.

Mobile grooming: the case for it

With mobile grooming, there's no transport, no carrier on the MRT, and no waiting room full of other dogs. Your dog is groomed one-to-one, often in or beside your home, which is far calmer for nervous, senior or young dogs. For time-poor owners it's simply the easiest option.

The trade-off is price — the convenience and dedicated time usually cost a bit more than a studio — and setup, since some home-based mobile groomers need access to your bathroom and a power point.

Studio grooming: the case for it

A studio is fully equipped, which helps for very large dogs, serious de-matting, or anything that needs more space and heavier drying. It's often a little cheaper, and some dogs are perfectly relaxed with drop-off.

The downsides are the trip there and back, and that busier salons may groom several dogs at once, so there can be waiting or cage-drying involved.

Which should you pick?

  • Nervous, senior or puppy → mobile tends to win
  • Very large or heavily matted dog → studio is often better equipped
  • No transport / busy schedule → mobile
  • Budget is the priority → studio is often cheaper
  • Not sure → choose 'either' and compare both quotes

Questions

Is mobile grooming more expensive?

Usually a little, yes — you're paying for the convenience and one-to-one time. The exact difference depends on your dog's size and coat, so compare quotes when you get matched.

Is mobile grooming less stressful for dogs?

For many dogs, yes — no transport, no waiting with other dogs, and a familiar environment. It's especially good for nervous, senior and young dogs.

Can I get matched with both to compare?

Yes. Choose 'either is fine' when you get matched and we'll connect you with mobile and studio groomers so you can compare.
